HWA Monitoring at Bison Hollow Preserve-Canceled Due to Rain

March 23, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Free

As spring gets closer, the chilly days are perfect for an outdoor stewardship experience at one of AOA’s most scenic preserves–Bison Hollow!  This Preserve has waterfalls, old growth forest, numerous wildflowers, unusual rock formations and clear and quiet streams.   We will plan to gather in the deep woods to monitor the hemlock forest for the Hemlock Wooly Adelgid (HWA); a very small and destructive pest which has been working its way across Ohio in recent years. More info on the HWA can be found here: https://www.invasivespeciescentre.ca/…/hemlock-woolly…/

Please make sure to bring rubber boots, proper outerwear, water, and a lunch! Hiking poles are also very helpful.  We will be traversing off trail, and sometimes may will have several stream crossings! When arriving at AOA sites for an event/workday, be on the lookout for green signs and cones to lead the way.

Please check out our Facebook site in case there are any late changes to the event or contact our Stewardship Coordinator, Noah Miller.
